How do artists get paid?
In the artists admin area you will be able to view all your sale orders where payment will be sent to you once sales have reached or exceeded your chosen sales target. Sale target is the amount you select (between £10 - £50) in your admin area. When your sales target has been reached overplay will then make payment to you. For example if you set your target at £10, once you have reached that £10 sales target overplay will then send you payment to your paypal account for that amount.
Why does payment go first to overplay?
This is simply for convenience for the buyer. If the buyer is buying multiple amounts of songs from different artists in one visit then the buyer cannot be expected to pay direct to each of the individual artists they have bought from. It is easier to pay direct to one source and then for overplay to distribute payments to the artists.

Overplay have created a competition 'PLAY & RATE' to unearth and reward the best unsigned songs that deserve to be heard. Every artist/band that is a Silver or a Gold member of overplay (join here) can submit one song into the competition into the genre of their choice. Then sit back, relax while other artists, fans, music lovers and industry have the chance to listen and rate your song.
The competition runs for 3 months with 3 competitions a year. The public can rate the songs entered and the most highly rated songs will then be finally judged and rated by overplays industry judging panel consisting of some top A&R judges. Apart from getting some great feedback from fans and the industry there will be a selection of prizes to be won too. So artists please submit your best song and let the public and industry decide which song is the best unsigned unheard song waiting to be heard. For more information please click here.

My band has just been signed to a major record label. Will Overplay take a cut?
No. Once a record label has signed an artist that originally was recognised on Overplay then our work has been done and successful. All that we would ask is if we could use your bands’ name as proof that Overplay really does work!!
How does the Overplay Top 20 Chart work?
When users visit the artists websites or download a song, they are monitored and recorded in our database. The more hits or song plays you get on your site area the higher up the chart you go. So it would be useful to advertise your site to get fans and friends to visit and get you up that top 20 listing. We have an IP blocker on the charts which means our system will only register 1 hit from your computer per day. So if you keep hitting a song a dozen times in one day it makes no difference we will only register one of those hits.
